The image is separated into spot inks in absorbance space (darkest plate first, like grey-component removal), each plate gets its own rotated halftone screen so overlaps form rosettes rather than moiré, the plates are misregistered a pixel or two off the first, and the inks multiply onto the paper so overlaps darken and mix. Adds uneven roller mottle, fine ink speckle, and the real scanned paper grain showing through. Controls: an editable ink set (1–4 works best), ink density, contrast and ink bleed (how much the inks contaminate each other); screen size, dot shape (Round / Line / Diamond), screen angle and angle spread, dot softness; misregistration, ink speckle and roller mottle; paper colour, texture and amount. Threshold Mode restricts the print to the tones inside a threshold — include the darks (the subject) or the lights, with a feathered edge — and everything outside is left untouched (no ink and no paper), so the layers below show through. Animate to re-roll the registration and grain each step, like a press running. With no source layer it prints a synthesized placeholder.
